Right now, despite billions in increased healthcare spending, waiting lists are longer than the BC Federation of Labour can tolerate so that they now, despite their distate for capitalism, send their union members to the private Cambie Street Clinic. The compelling reason that politicians increasingly offer voters new “free” stuff each election cycle is because it works. Whether it was in Britains recent election, BC’s or Ontario’s every election cycle something else is offered to the public “free”. If this keeps up soon there won’t be anything left to make free and our future generations will just have to buckle down and try and pay for all our frivolity.

Thanks to pressure from Donald Trump and Canada lagging terribly on its committment to maintain its military, the defense minister announces an increase of 14 billion over the next 10 years, and far more in the decade after. 

Even the NDP have admitted attractive tax rates attracts businesses, capital and skilled people when they brought in their Film Credit. With the US set to lower corporate taxes, businesses including Hockey in Canada are going to suffer.  

The big debate has to include the consequences of a mandatory raising of the minimum wage 31.5% over 21 months as Ontario intends to do.  Some businessses will cope, others won’t. Heck, even Premier Wynn’s own expert panel recommended against it. What’s really galling….
