Now that the voting is over for proportional representation, maybe it’s time to focus our attention on something that impacts all Canadians. The division that seems to be intensifying on both sides of the isle.
I made a point of listening to at least six CBC newscasts on the weekend. They all featured the French protests that brought Paris to a standstill and could bring down the Macron government but not one of them mentioned the catalysts for the mass outcry – carbon taxes. The question is why?
What’s the over/under on the number of traffic injuries this holiday season that could be prevented if the BC government stopped caring about votes from the taxi cartel and started putting public safety first. Experience in other jurisdictions suggest the number could be significant.
France has been involved in the worst riots in 50 years over the carbon tax on gasoline. Over 30 thousand took to the streets to protest the tax and there have been injuries and even deaths. So why aren’t we hearing anything from the progressives about how Canada should be more like Progressive Europe.

Innovation is born out of questioning the status quo, so cutting off debate on “settled” scientific, political or social views makes the opposite happen – stifles any chance for meaningful change.
