Richard wrote Dow Theory Letters since 1958, the longest investment letter in the industry continuously written by the same person. When the internet became available his passion for writing exploded and he wrote his subscribers daily, always including personal  or special treats like this comment below:
 
AH PERFECTION: Strange, but the most popular, the most widely-requested, and the most widely quoted piece I’ve ever written was not about the stock market — it was about business, and specifically about what I call the theoretical “ideal business.” I first published this piece in the early-1970s. I repeated it in Letter 881 and then again in Letter 982. I’ve added a few thoughts in each successive edition. But seldom does a month go by when I don’t get requests from subscribers or from some publication or corporation to republish “the ideal business.” So here it is again — with a few added comments.
 

2. Todd Market Forecast: “Last week was the best one this year” 

 STOCKS :  Last week was the best one this year, so it’s not surprising to see a bit of a profit taking pullback. We like the fact that both of the above indices were down on positive breadth. That is usually a bullish development. 
      Know this about thanksgiving week. Since 1987, Wednesday through Friday has been higher 16 of 26 times for a total Dow gain of 659 points. 
   
GOLD:  Gold was down $8. Strength in the dollar was again given credit.  
 
CHART: The S&P 500 hourly chart made a low below a previous low (arrows). It would be nice if this were to turn around on Tuesday. It does cause our antennae to rise.
 

3. Mid-East Change: Oil and Gold Rally Catalyst

  1. The case for gold ownership is not any weaker or stronger now, than it was a thousand years ago. Gold is the world’s ultimate asset, and that’s irrespective of whether the price is currently rising or falling.
  2. Currently, most commodity indexes are dominated by oil, and game-changing events in the mid-East region are poised to occur in 2016.
