Governments Want Every Single Dollar You Have

Now its a tax on Netflix. Vancouver isn’t happy with the increased property taxes from the boom and is now going to raise them 3.9% plus a 6% increase in Utility charges…. to raise more money to throw away. It’s never enough. What’s next, taxing the air you breathe (carbon tax anyone?).

You already pay nearly 50% in taxes, now the government wants to track every single expenditure you make with what is left. The whole “cashless” society is so cash starved government can solve their problems by taking some, or all of what you have left at the blink of an eye.

 

 

Finally – Rates Boosted Markets Yawn

After repeated passes on raising rates the Federal Reserve finally boosted them 1/4%. Stocks shrugged the move off and Gold got smashed. Michael on Personal Finances and how a US interest rate hike affects Canadians, oil and the loonie

It’s curious what creates tremendous waste in government spending. For example how is it that there can be no clean drinking water on some native reserves after spending 10 billion a year? Despite the urge to put all the examples of government waste down to inefficiency and sloth, Michael says there is quite a different reason for it.

BC Federation of Labour President: “Let Them Eat Cake”

Reacting to the report that notes the Public sector gets paid far more than private sector, Irene Lanzinger the President of the BC Fed simply wants corporations to pay employees more to catch up to the Public sector. At the same time she pushes for higher taxes on corporations!
