The Canadian Union of Postal Workers have started rotating strikes after not reaching a deal with their employer. But do you care? At the end of the day, postal workers get paid by you, the taxpayer. With a company that loses money, should taxpayers be on the hook to pay for a dying business?
US environmental groups are going to be thrilled with the election of Kennedy Stewart. Stewart fought against the Kinder Morgan pipeline and US groups who funnel money into Canada will no doubt be celebrating. But the bigger prize for US environmentalists is coming up with the referendum on Proportional Represention.
Aggregate statistics on gender pay serve a political purpose but are so superficial they reveal nothing. In the real world – qualifications, the number of hours worked, experience and training make a difference.
There are only a couple of days before the civic election and there may be more interest from people in Alberta than here in BC.
